The Beauty of Katernberg

This 7 ton gneiss, surrounded by water, forms the highlight of a large courtyard I designed in Essen. This part of the city, Katernberg, used to be a social hotspot, and I deliberately named my sculpture after it as a way to establish a sense of identity. Now, the beauty rests surrounded by tenants’ gardens and open spaces crisscrossed by natural pathways. She is nestling into the rock or rising from it, shrouded by her long, wild hair.
